Hermann Goerner was one of the many strongmen who performed The Human Link. Even eight men on each side was child's play for the Mighty German strongman.

Many strongmen performed The Human Link Feat but around 1920, The Amazing Samson upped the ante by a bunch. He not only held back a pair of draught horses, he also bent a steel bar over his leg at the same time! Amazing indeed. It should also probably be mentioned that he accomplished this feat as a result of a bet.

Here's a classic shot of Warren Lincoln Travis performing the classic strength feat "The Human Link". Although out of the frame, travis actually has a pair of horses looped over each elbow, and it's all he can do to stop from being torn limb from limb!

Rolling up a frying pan is one of the classic feats of strength and one that always knocks 'em dead during a live performance. Dennis Rogers makes it look easy but the feat requires tremendous fingertip strength to accomplish. You can always tell the frying pans that Dennis has rolled because they are rolled so tight that they can easily fit through the straps of a wrist watch.

One of the more unusual (and quite impressive) oldtime strongman feats was to lift a horse through the use of a climbing ladder. The German strongman William Pagel (left) pioneered this feat in the circus in the early 1900's. Many other strongmen followed in his footsteps including the Australian strongman Don Athaldo (right), Paul Baillargeon and Alexander Zass.

Pakistani strongman Professor A. N. Shaikh shows how it's done in the Tomb of Hercules feat. The combined weight of this motorcycle and two men were estimated to weight around 700 pounds or more. This feat is a lot more difficult than you might think.

Plenty of people can tear a regulation deck of cards but it's a whole new ball game with a mini-deck. Dennis Rogers can do this feat with ease, as well he should since his fingers are about as strong as a set of pliers.

Certain strongman feats are just classics and one of those is the The Human Link. Louis Cyr performed it all the way back in the late 1800s with a couple draught horses... Dennis Rogers does the same feat today with motor cycles or jet planes -- and you can find pretty much every major strongman in between having performed the same feat as well.
Here's Johan Dykhorst of South Africa performing the human link with an automobile on each arm. At the time this picture was taken he was the director of a large physical culture gym in Johannesburg, South Africa. Aside from the Human Link, Dykhorst was also great at some of the more conventional lifts, among them a straight arm pullover with 215 pounds which was equal to his bodyweight - a phenomenal achievement.
