Another example of an advertisement for the Farmer Burns school of wrestling: "Never before have actual World's Champions offered their most secret methods of training to the pubic." A lesson from Frank Gotch must have been quite an opportunity. This ad dates back to 1915 but the courses are still available here.

If you're going to be an athlete, you better be prepared to run. Shown here is George Hackenschmidt training in Chicago to face Frank Gotch for the second time. (Taken in 1911) Hack is flanked by his training partners Dr. Benjamin Roller, Gus "Americus" Schoenlein, and Jacob Koch, the former World Champion from Germany.

When in training -- which is pretty much always -- Indian wrestlers rise at 5:30 AM to begin their exercises which consist of thousands of "Dunds" (pushups) and "Batticks" (squats). This routine is performed each day without fail and builds and incredible amount of strength and endurance.
These three men were some of the greatest wrestlers in all of India during their time, from left to right Chota, Imam-Bux (the Great Gama's brother), and Mdrala.

The Wrestler's BridgeThe Wrestler's Bridge is and can be a very good exercise for developing neck strength. You must first master your own bodyweight before moving on the the weighted version that this Japanese wrestler is demonstrating.
