It was on July 1st, 1968 that Dr. Ken became the 12th man to lift the Zuver's Gym "challenge" water barrel overhead. Nobody knows exactly how much the barrel weighed but it was somewhere in the neighborhood of 200-250 lbs. And, if you have done any barrel lifting, you know that it's a whole different deal than a barbell. If you ever get to talk to Dr. Ken, get him to tell you the story on how this came about.

Bob Zuver liked to do everything up BIG at his gym... he had the world's biggest squat rack (over 10 feet tall), the world's longest dipping station (12 feet long), dumbbells up to 320 pounds, the World's biggest rope climb, the world's biggest bench press (which weighed 650 pounds) and even a fire hose for a drinking fountain.
Shown here is a closer look at Zuver's unique barbell plates, which were, unsurprisingly, also BIG... as you can see, they were in 50-pound, 100-pound, 150-pound and 200-pound denominations.

Dr. Ken, getting in a (what else?) squat workout at Zuver's Hall of Fame Gym. Needless to say, intense leg work has been a mainstay of the good Doctor's workout for a long time. This also happens to be "The World's Biggest Squat Rack" or at least it was at the time.

A look into the legendary "Zuvers Hall of Fame Gym" run by the Reverend Bob Zuver in Costa Mesa, California. With a variety of unusual training equipment and an even more unusual atmosphere, anyone who ever trained there sure never forgot it.
In the background, you can just make out the 'World's largest Squat Rack" and the "World's Largest Dipping Rack." Also of note are the distinctive Zuver Barbell plates to the left of the picture.
