CASEY VIATOR

Louisiana-born Casey Viator became the youngest AAU Mr. America winner on June 12th, 1971, beating over 30 of the top bodybuilders in the world. He was 19 years old at the time, and in addition to the overall title, Viator won five of the six sub-divisions (all except "Best Abs" which was won by Chuck Amato.) -- a feat which had never been done before.

Just a few weeks prior, he won the AAU Junior Mr. America title and prior to that, won the AAU Teenage Mr. America.

These wins culminated one of the dominating performances in the history of Bodybuilding.

The reason for Casey's incredible success was due to Arthur Jones, and his unique training ideas, something Arthur had been writing about frequently in the pages of Ironman Magazine. Arthur's revolutionary training ideas produced the greatest amount of results in the smallest amount of time.

    Casey Viator's Ironman Magazine Covers:

Casey Viator graced the cover of Ironman the first time after his AAU Teenage Mr. America win in 1970. Casey came from out of nowhere to win the AAU Mr. USA contest and finish 3rd at that year's Mr. America contest held in Culver City, California. It was at that contest that Arthur Jones unveiled what he called "The Blue Monster" - the prototype for what would eventually become his Nautilus machines.

During the early 1970's, Casey's training was regularly featured in the pages of Iron Man Magazine in Arthur Jones' training articles.

    The Colorado Experiment:

From May 1, 1973 through May 29, 1973 Casey Viator and Arthur Jones conducted what is now known as the "Colorado Experiment" -- for one month, each trained under specific guidelines, under highly-monitored conditions and only with Arthur's Nautilus Machines in order to see the results of some of Arthur's training ideas.

Arthur became ill after three weeks and was forced to bow out although his results were still substantial, gaining over 15 pounds of lean muscle in just over three weeks. Casey completed the entire month of workouts and the results were outstanding, pictured below:
