Hermann Goerner

The dead lift was one of Goerner's favorite lifts - here he is lifting 595.5 pounds with just 2 fingers of each hand.

This picture was taken in 1923, notice anything unusual?

Hermann Goerner was a German Strongman who was born over a hundred years ago.
Like many strongmen, his particular specialties were various kinds of dead lifts as well as supporting feats. Georner
is probably most well known for his one hand deadlift of over 700 lbs. Needless to say, in his prime he was easily one of the strongest men
who ever lived.
Now, the reasons I bring Goerner up at this point in time are two fold:
First of all, the coming April 13th is Goerner's birthday and so it's only fitting that all the true strength fans give him a tip of the hat.
Beyond that though is something else... something unusual that was recently brought to my attention concerning Hermann Goerner and
some of his training methods (at least one in particular.) This had been something that I have looked right at a thousand times
but never noticed.
Like I said, this was recently brought to my attention (from another famous name from the past)
and when I started using it...
Well, I'll save that for the right time. Don't worry; this will start to make a lot more sense very soon.
For the time being though keep an eye on this space. Goerner's birthday is on a Friday
but I am going to wait until the following Monday (April 16th, 2007) to reveal the Secret. I will, however, be dropping hints all this week.
