"Legacy of Iron"

Brooks Kubik's NEWEST book will thrill and amaze
you in a trip back through strength history...

It's been twelve years since Brooks Kubik wrote his modern classic Dinosaur Training. As you may recall, Dinosaur Training was the book that started a revolution in the strength world. It was the book that introduced many modern trainees to some of the classic training tools, techniques and workouts of the strength athletes of years past.

... as you should recall from Dinosaur Training, Brooks was particularly fond of the training and teaching of Bob Hoffman and the York Barbell Company. That, of course, is with good reason - York was the home of strength champion after strength champion and influenced the training of hundreds of thousands of trainees, among them a young Brooks Kubik.

Now, as he often did in Dinosaur Training Brooks' brand new book Legacy of Iron takes us back, back to the beginning, back to York, Pennsylvania ... 'the Mecca' ... place where it all began... Muscletown USA!

Legacy of Iron is listed as a "novel" though it is much more along the lines of something by John McCallum -- using fictionalized story lines to teach training (and life) lessons.

Our protagonist is a young boy by the name of Jim Miller, whom we meet on the first page being beaten up by the local bully.

Jim is growing up in just after the depression and, as luck would have it, just a stones throw from York, Pennsylvania.

I wont give anything else away but eventually Jim starts training and is eventually introduced to Bob Hoffman, Grimek and the rest of the York gang. Throughout the book Jim is "right there" for many of the greatest moments in the history of strength - Hoffman, Grimek, Stanko, Gord Venables, John Davis, Tony Terlazzo all the 'York Gang' is there and you will be too...

And I know what you're thinking "What about the training?" Brooks has expertly interwoven great training information in with the story. Among Jim's adventures you will find:

  • Information on the classic York Barbell Courses

  • Steve Stanko's Olympic Lifting workout

  • Sig Klein's workout

  • John Grimek's favorite exercise for full body powr

  • Increasing the chest/ribcage

  • John Davis' 8 x 2 system

  • ...Yeah, you're going to want to have a pen and a notepad right there with you as you turn the pages...
