SUPER STRENGTH - Without Weights
Why a centuries-old workout might just be the training program you have been looking for
"That's impossible - you NEED to lift weights if you want to build real strength."
- That's what my buddy said. He was a very strong guy and
he trained very hard, but when I easily ran rings around him and effortlessly fell backwards into a full wrestler's bridge, he begged to know
just what in the heck kind of training I was doing...
Before I reveal that secret, let me take you back to the turn of the century to the days of the Old Time Strongmen. Sure they
were well known for lifting some hefty weights but they were athletes first.
In fact, many of the most well known Strongmen (such as Apollon, George Hackenschmidt, Earle E. Liederman and George Jowett) were
also champion
wrestlers and many times it was their
job to take on all comers as they traveled the performing circuit.
They had to be strong, quick, agile and well conditioned which is why "weights" were only a part of their training programs.
And when they trained, they trained every part of their bodies...

Frank Gotch - Old Time Wrestler -
|
You see, to be in tip-top shape, these old-time wrestlers and strongmen often trained with nothing more than their own bodyweight -- sometimes
as a supplement to their other training, sometimes as their entire training.
Bodyweight training helped build the kind of combat strength and conditioning they needed.
This is a tradition that goes back thousands of years -- and this was exactly the kind of training that I had been
doing to WOW my friend.
Now you can train the same way -- master your own bodyweight
and build incredible strength without weights.
The Truth About Strength Training
A lot of people want to be strong -- 'tis a worthwhile goal -- and if you want to be as strong as possible,
you have to train the body as a unit, without neglecting any areas. You can become very strong with "Weights"
but there is much more to it than sets and reps. Bodyweight training can help you fill in the gaps and make you stronger than you
have ever dreamed.
I would know... Because this is exactly what happened to me and let me tell you why:
My Bodyweight Training Wakeup Call
I always thought bodyweight movements were just for gym class but how wrong I was. A few years ago I was lucky enough
to train with two bodyweight training masters - National Champion Wrestler and World Champion Martial Artist Matt Furey and
"The God of Wrestling" Karl Gotch.
To make a long story short, I could squat and bench press some pretty respectable poundage but less than ten minutes of Hindu Squats
and bridging with Matt and "Half Moon" pushups with Karl left me crumbled on the floor, too tired to move. Here I was a Big-10
football player at Michigan, bigger, stronger and faster than I ever was at any point in my life and less than 10 minutes
of "wimpy" bodyweight training had put me down for the count.
And so I began to train... basically
having to start over from the beginning. I built myself up to be even stronger than before, but with a type of strength
that no one else had.
I combined weights and
bodyweight training and have never looked back. Today I could not imagine "training" without including bodyweight
movements in my program. They have been an invaluable part of my progress and I know that bodyweight training
could do a lot for you too.
How To Learn Bodyweight Training From The Same Experts That I Did
Matt Furey, who I mentioned earlier, has written two great training courses. His first was Combat Conditioning
which provides over 50 incredible "functional" bodyweight exercises to burn fat and turn you into a lean, mean fitness machine.
You begin with "The Royal Court" a series of three exercises. You can, of course,
move on from there but the Royal Court is more than enough to bring any strongman to his knees. Once you get started though,
things will start to happen -- amazing things. You'll be stronger, have more energy and feel better than you have in years. Bodyweight training will open
up a whole new world for you.
This amazing journey began for me in the pages of Combat Conditioning and that's where it will begin for you too with over 50 different functional exercises
for fitness and combat sports.

Combat Abs, or How One Simple Exercise Can Change Your Life
A few years later, Matt wrote Combat Abs specifically for teaching how to build the kind of lean, strong and muscular midsection
using classical methods. The Old time boxers, wrestlers and strongmen trained their abs with a variety of unique exercises and none of them involved
flopping around on the floor like a fish or using a plastic gizmo to do crunches.
They trained their abs in ways you just don't see these days that were designed to strengthen their bodies from the inside out. Take a peek at what you can learn
in the pages of
Combat Abs:
1. Karl Gotch's 2 "C's" and why they are important to building a rock-solid midsection
2. The 7 steps of the Farmer Burn's Stomach Flatterer which builds amazing "internal" strength and power (the Karate Masters call it "Chi")
3. How the "Magnificent Seven" series will whittle your waist from all angles
4. Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced abdominal exercises - plug in at the level you are at right now and get started
5. A word on "Deep Breathing exercises of the Samurai"
6. How to use the "Powerwheel" for the Ultimate Ab Workout
7. How to drop unwanted pounds with the Combat Abs Nutritional Program - includes a complete listing of the right foods to eat and the foods to avoid 90% of the time.
8. How to set goals, keep score and take action
9. The answers to 15 commonly asked questions about abdominal training and fat loss
10. How to Sleep better at night, increase your energy level, increase the strength of your lower back, chest, throat, neck and feel refreshed every morning
