There are certainly benefits to be gained from using a single
resistance level but the benefits of owning the full range of chest
expanders are many. Foremost is the ability to train progressively -
to gradually increase resistance as your own
strength develops.
...but before I teach you about chest expanders, let me tell you
about a barbell workout that my Uncle used to do.
First he started out with with "cleans" - taking the bar to
his chest in one movement. He would do a few sets of those
adding weight with each successive set.
When the weight got too heavy, he switched to barbell "rows"
and did the same thing for a few sets. Increased weight for
each successive set.
Then, when the weight became too heavy for rows, he
finished up with deadlifts. As you can see, the weight defined what movements were
able to be performed.
This same concept can be applied to chest expanders.
-- the lighter chest expanders can be used for certain exercises
and as the resistance increases, the movement will change.
For example, the "Front Pull" which I mentioned yesterday,
is a movement which trains the small muscles of the shoulder,
muscles that are very important but do not receive a lot of
direct action in daily life.
For this reason, the lightest levels (Teal, Purple, Pink) should be
used but once you reach a certain point, greater resistance levels
will be needed, especially for exercises like the back press or one-arm press.
These exercises are best performed with the Magenta, Orange, and
Red levels.
And again, as you go up in resistance, your exercise selection will
change as needed.
If you keep getting stronger, you should be able to use the toughest
levels (Yellow, Green, Blue) for some of the common movements but starting out,
they can be used very effectively for movements
such as shrugs, high pulls, or even a leg press of sorts --
All movements involving the most powerful muscles of the human
body.

Because the Lifeline chest expanders
are offered in such a wide range of resistance strengths, gradual progression
is made possible for those who own the full set.
