Clyde Emrich

Posted on Monday, July 29th, 2019 by John Wood
Here’s a classic shot of Clyde Emrich’s opening press of 292 lbs. at the 1955 World Championships held in Munich, Germany. It was the only press that Clyde made that day, getting subsequently turned down twice for 303 lbs. Clyde finished the day with a 427.5 kg total on his way to a Silver Medal finish behind Arkady Vorobyev of the Soviet Union. Many years later Clyde became strength coach of the Chicago Bears.
